CAIRO, December 29–This evening organizers of the Gaza Freedom March (GFM) announced that the Egyptian government has offered to allow 100 of the 1,362 GFM delegates from 42 countries to go through the Egyptian-controlled Rafah border crossing into Gaza. The 100 are expected to leave Cairo in buses tomorrow at 7 am. The GFM leadership still hope to negotiate for the full group to join Gazans for a Dec. 31 march against the Israeli blockade of the territory, and will continue protest actions in Cairo with the remaining activists. The decision was controversial, with some participants feeling that the negotiators should have held out for the whole group to get permission to enter Gaza.
