Ravi Ragbir: Freedom Fighter

Ravi Ragbir is a fixture in New York City’s immigrant rights community, but until recently few people realized he is at risk of deportation. The 15-year legal resident has helped hundreds of people as an organizer with the New Sanctuary Movement and “Deportation 101” instructor with Families for Freedom. He faces removal to Trinidad – without a single meaningful hearing in immigration court – because of a wire fraud conviction  a decade ago. Now he has marshaled a grassroots team of activists and lawyers to take his case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
