TONIGHT: Protest Planned to Greet Kissinger at 92nd Street Y

PHOTO: Wikipedia.orgRenowned war criminal Henry Kissinger is scheduled to speak May 31 at the 92nd Street on the upper east side, and activists are hoping to derail the event.Kissinger developed the plans for wars that resulted in millions of deaths, millions of refugees, millions maimed. He was responsible for crimes against humanity in Vietnam, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Chile, Iraq and many other countries. (Click here for a video about Kissinger’s history.)

The former secretary of state will be promoting his new book on China at 8:00 pm as part of the 92nd Street Y’s “Lectures and Conversations” series; a pre-lecture “town meeting” will take place at 6:00 pm.

In an effort spearheaded by World Can’t Wait, organizers are asking people to contact the 92nd Street Y demanding that the appearance be canceled. If the program goes on as scheduled, there will be a demonstration beginning at 6:30 pm.

The protest is being sponsored by World Can’t Wait, War Criminals Watch, CodePink, Veterans For Peace-NYC Chapter 34, Movimiento la Peña del Bronx, Bolivarian Circle Alberto Lovera NY, the East Timor & Indonesia Action Network, The Indypendent The list is still in formation.
