RALLY: MAYDAY: WE ARE THE 99%. Join Occupy Wall Street and millions around the world for a day of rallies and events to protest a system that just isn’t working. Begin the day in Bryant Park for a pop-up occupation with free food, workshops, public art and performances.

EVENT: FREE UNIVERSITY. Lectures, workshops, skill-shares, and discussions will be held — all open to the public. University professors will bring their classes to the commons. Talks by David Graeber, Francis Fox Piven, Chris Hedges and more.

MARCH: MARCH TO UNION SQUARE. March and make music with thousands of guitarists. Led by Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, hop in the crowd, listen to the music and march down to Union Square. The OWS Meditation working group will also lead a Tai Chi meditation walk.

SCREENING: SCHMATTA: FROM RAGS TO RICHES TO RAGS. To honor Labor History month, the New York Labor History Association is hosting a free viewing of this HBO documentary. Schmatta examines the rise and fall of New York’s garment industry as a metaphor for the de-industrialization occurring simultaneously in the U.S. Screening will be followed by a discussion with filmmaker Mark Levin along with historians and labor leaders.
